Hello,
My name is Sheyenne Sky, and I am the founder of this beautiful budding enterprise. it’s been quite a year since I first officially launched LAND+OBJECT in November 2021. Since then, I’ve grown so much as an entrepreneur and as a person. I’ve learned a lot about myself and how important it is to stay true to your values– especially when it comes to business. In times when it feels difficult to navigate, I focus my energy on creating beautiful, peaceful, balanced, and harmonious experiences.
The result is LAND+OBJECT, my sustainable design company based in Santa Fe, NM on Tewa homelands. Developing this brand has enabled me to push myself to achieve several major milestones-- LAND+OBJECT has officially launched our new FW22 collection with three new colors and two new lengths. Our socks are available in-store across the Southwest at boutiques such as Standard & Strange (Santa Fe), Sign of the Pampered Maiden (Santa Fe), Luna & Luz (Albuquerque), Power Plant (Albuquerque), and Desert Crafted (Scottsdale).
Also new this season is our Yak wool beanie which is exclusive to www.landobject.com. Yak wool is comparable to cashmere in terms of softness and warmth, but is more breathable— which makes it a sublime material for beanies. It makes me so happy to know that there are people out there that appreciate luxury yarns as much as I do because these have been selling really well!
Thanks to a collaboration with Consciously Curated Boxes, I’m also happy to announce that we are now completely sold out of our original sock style! Be on the lookout in the next few weeks to purchase one of their boxes full of indigenous-made goods for the holiday season!
I’m also incredibly proud of what I’ve built here on Substack. I’m thrilled that you made the choice to check out indigenous-led art and design publication. The purpose of this newsletter is to share thought-provoking stories from NDN country rooted in sustainability and indigenous design principles.
This weekend, I will be attending the first-ever Native American business women’s conference in Albuquerque on Pueblo land. I am going to use this time to connect with other Native women and continue to gain more awareness for LAND+OBJECT.
Truly, I am filled with gratitude when I stop to think about how my life has led me to such a tight-knit and supportive community. Thanks to everyone who has supported LAND+OBJECT, I’ve finally had the courage to bring to life a vision I’ve been quietly developing for many years. I greatly appreciate your attention– as it is very valuable and greatly commodified in today’s age.
Waves of inspiration are carried in the cool, crisp, and damp fall air. Every year, I fall in love again and again with the process of developing new work. In the months ahead, I will be working on a collection of hand-woven accessories for the spring season. I will reveal the material and concept on Instagram as I go along! I can’t wait to share the journey ahead as we boldly shape a more positive future for fashion.
Sincerely,
Sheyenne
